Find installation guidance, product specifications, rough-in information, component details, and downloadable technical documents for the Heritage Keg Urinal. This page is intended for installers, contractors, facility owners, architects, and customers planning a residential or commercial installation.
Product Overview
The Heritage Keg Urinal is a specialty wall-mounted fixture handcrafted from a full-size stainless-steel keg. Its defining feature is a fully framed fixture opening reinforced with a 1-inch-wide by 1/8-inch-thick stainless-steel band for added rigidity and long-term service.
Each fixture includes a welded stainless-steel mounting system, integrated flush-water diffuser, stainless-steel lower drain, and stainless-steel strainer. It is available as a fixture-only configuration or as a complete installation kit with compatible plumbing components.
Every Heritage fixture is individually fabricated from an authentic keg shell. Minor variations in stamped markings, surface character, usage patterns, and shell geometry are normal.

Heritage Construction and Finish
The Heritage Keg Urinal is built around a fully framed fixture opening. A 1-inch-wide by 1/8-inch-thick stainless-steel reinforcement surrounds the opening, adding rigidity and preserving the keg shell's structure.
Each fixture is TIG welded, deburred, and finished with smooth, touch-safe edges. The upper surfaces and interior receive a machine-applied spiral finish, while other areas may retain authentic keg markings, wear patterns, stamping, and industrial character.
Heritage vs. Signature
The Heritage model emphasizes its reinforced framed opening and preserves more of the keg shell's original industrial character. The Signature model uses a more uniform spiral abrasion treatment for a refined and consistent overall appearance.
Both models use the same general wall-mounted plumbing approach, but their construction details and visual presentation differ.
Rough-In Guidance
Coordinate the flush-valve supply location with the selected flush valve, finished mounting height, and completed wall conditions.
For typical commercial flush-valve installations, the maximum supply rough-in is approximately 11-3/4 inches above the fixture inlet. A shorter rough-in of approximately 7 inches may be used when the selected flush-valve configuration allows.
The fixture inlet is a 3/4-inch male NPT connection. The drain outlet uses a standard threaded 1-1/2-inch connection and is designed for connection to a compatible 1-1/2-inch IPS P-trap.
Important: Final mounting height, supply position, drain alignment, wall reinforcement, accessibility requirements, and code compliance must be determined by the installer and the local authority having jurisdiction.
Mounting and Wall Preparation
The Heritage Keg Urinal uses fully welded upper and lower stainless-steel mounting brackets designed to accommodate 5/16-inch fasteners.
Install the fixture into structural wall framing, solid blocking, masonry, or another substrate capable of supporting the fixture and installation loads. Do not rely on drywall anchors alone.
Confirm that the wall surface is level and that the flush-valve supply, drain, and mounting locations align before drilling or permanently fastening the fixture.
- Upper bracket: two mounting points for 5/16-inch fasteners
- Lower bracket: one mounting point for a 5/16-inch fastener
- Two fully welded stainless-steel wall-mounting brackets
- Installer-selected fasteners appropriate for the wall construction
Configuration Options
Keg Urinal Only
Includes the fabricated Heritage Keg Urinal with reinforced stainless-steel opening, integrated flush-water diffuser, stainless-steel lower drain, stainless-steel strainer, and fully welded wall-mounting brackets.
Choose this option when supplying your own compatible flush valve, P-trap, and mounting hardware.
Complete Kit with Flush Valve
Includes everything supplied with the Keg Urinal Only configuration, plus a compatible commercial chrome flush valve, 1-1/2-inch IPS P-trap, and mounting hardware.
Note: Both configurations require connection to the building's water supply and sanitary drain system. Included components may vary by configuration. Confirm the current product listing before ordering.
Installation Instructions
Review the complete installation instructions before beginning work. Plumbing connections and final installation should be completed by qualified persons familiar with applicable codes and commercial restroom fixtures.
Installation Overview
1. Confirm rough-in and wall support
Verify the water supply, drain position, mounting height, framing, structural blocking, accessibility clearances, and finished wall conditions.
2. Position and mark the fixture
Hold the fixture at the intended mounting height and mark the upper and lower bracket locations.
3. Install mounting fasteners
Use suitable 5/16-inch fasteners or anchors selected for the wall construction and structural support.
4. Connect the drain
Connect the standard threaded 1-1/2-inch drain assembly to the compatible P-trap.
5. Connect the flush valve
Connect the compatible flush valve to the 3/4-inch male NPT fixture inlet.
6. Inspect and test
Check mounting stability, fixture alignment, flush-water distribution, drainage, and all plumbing connections for proper operation and leaks.
Care and Maintenance
Clean the stainless-steel surface with a soft cloth and a non-abrasive cleaner suitable for stainless steel. Avoid steel wool, chlorine-based cleaners, strong acids, and abrasive pads.
The Heritage finish is intended to preserve authentic industrial character. Original markings, finish variation, and surface character should be expected.
Periodically inspect the mounting fasteners, plumbing connections, diffuser performance, and drain flow. Remove mineral deposits before they become severe.
Frequently Asked Questions
What size flush-valve connection does the fixture use?
The fixture inlet is a 3/4-inch male NPT connection.
What size drain connection is required?
The fixture has a standard threaded 1-1/2-inch outlet designed for connection to a compatible 1-1/2-inch IPS P-trap.
What flush volume is compatible with the fixture?
The Heritage Keg Urinal is designed for compatible commercial flush valves operating from 0.5 to 1.0 gallons per flush.
What water pressure is recommended?
Recommended operating conditions are approximately 20 psi flowing at the valve during flushing and up to 60 psi static.
Is wall blocking required?
Structural support is required. Solid blocking, framing, masonry, or another suitable load-bearing substrate should be provided. Drywall anchors alone are not recommended.
Is the flush valve included?
The flush valve is included only with the Complete Kit with Flush Valve configuration. Review the selected product option before ordering.
Can the fixture be installed at an accessible height?
The fixture can be installed as part of an accessible restroom configuration when mounted with the required height, clearances, controls, and surrounding conditions. Final compliance depends on the complete installation and must be verified by the installer and applicable authority.
Are all Heritage keg shells visually identical?
No. Authentic keg shells may vary in stamping, age, surface character, usage patterns, and minor geometry. Kegs selected for upcycling are inspected before fabrication.
How does the Heritage finish differ from the Signature finish?
The Heritage model preserves more of the keg shell's authentic industrial character and includes a fully reinforced framed opening. The Signature model receives a more uniform spiral abrasion finish across the visible fixture surfaces.
Is the fixture third-party certified?
The fixture is fabricated to applicable material and specialty-fixture standards, but the complete fabricated fixture is not third-party certified unless specifically stated in current product documentation. A letter of conformity is available upon request.
Warranty
Structural welds, permanent fixture mounts, and materials are covered under The Tailored Taproom Structural Lifetime Guarantee. Mechanical components, finish, diffuser components, and ancillary hardware are covered according to the current product warranty terms.
